This book contains lots of useful in depth information for people considering traveling to Hong Kong, it is well produced, the books layout is excellent, another very good book from Lonely Planet。

Good guidebook; we’ve used/consulted it frequently during our days here。 We leave Wed (15th) — too soon。Note: The waiters at Spring Deer — an unassuming Kowloon-side restaurant up a flight of stairs — are described in these pages as being “as cold as a Beijing winter。” We found them old-school and quite accommodating。 And more to the point, the Peking Duck should not be missed。

Brauchbar für einen ersten Überblick - wer die Stadt schon besser kennt, findet leider wenig Neues。

Very useful for a visit to HK

Great information about sleeping and eating in this vibrant city。

Hong Kong is an amazing place, an international city with its own style。 It is a potent mix of cultures-China with a dose of the West。 Having a good reference guide made all the difference。 Lonely Planet always does a good job of providing large doses of information with colorful maps and photos。 The weight of carrying around a print version pays off as a helpful navigation and planning guide。 I've tried using the ebook version, finding links handy, but clunky for on the spot questions。 Besides, Hong Kong is an amazing place, an international city with its own style。 It is a potent mix of cultures-China with a dose of the West。 Having a good reference guide made all the difference。 Lonely Planet always does a good job of providing large doses of information with colorful maps and photos。 The weight of carrying around a print version pays off as a helpful navigation and planning guide。 I've tried using the ebook version, finding links handy, but clunky for on the spot questions。 Besides, with a book I can rip out the pages I don't need。 。。。more

Not worth a dime。 So short there was no usable info in this book。

Money-saving tips were highly appreciated! For instance, avoid the paid view and catch the free one from Peak Galleria。 It was especially useful info for navigating via public transit and providing multiple options to reach sites。 Good job!

This has been my least-favourite of the Lonely Planet guides I've read。 The restaurant recommendations are heavily weighted towards expensive options, when Hong Kong has lots of amazing cheap food。 The descriptions of many attractions focus on historic details instead of telling you what it's like to visit。Having said that, this was still a helpful resource & I'll be making space for it in my bag when going to Hong Kong。 This has been my least-favourite of the Lonely Planet guides I've read。 The restaurant recommendations are heavily weighted towards expensive options, when Hong Kong has lots of amazing cheap food。 The descriptions of many attractions focus on historic details instead of telling you what it's like to visit。Having said that, this was still a helpful resource & I'll be making space for it in my bag when going to Hong Kong。 。。。more

It has only very popular spots and leave out on the most interesting parts of Hong Kong, which I have found by myself over the time。 It's okay if you only have a few days and want to do tourist stuff but if you are looking for local life, beautiful beaches and good places to eat, this isn't your guide。I liked the colour pages bcs it makes easier to read but it should be done much better since they are such a large company with the budget to do so。 It has only very popular spots and leave out on the most interesting parts of Hong Kong, which I have found by myself over the time。 It's okay if you only have a few days and want to do tourist stuff but if you are looking for local life, beautiful beaches and good places to eat, this isn't your guide。I liked the colour pages bcs it makes easier to read but it should be done much better since they are such a large company with the budget to do so。 。。。more

Pros:- Colored photos- Good attraction discriptions- Food recommendations (I can't vouch for the quality since that isn't my priority)Cons:- The maps are not detailed enough。 - The walking tours are also not detailed enough and seem a bit disjointed。 - Lack of recommendations apart from very popular destinations。 Overall, this isn't enough as the only guide for any extensive travel of 3+ days。 I found the Hong Kong Tourism Board site and app to be of much better use。 Save yourself some money and Pros:- Colored photos- Good attraction discriptions- Food recommendations (I can't vouch for the quality since that isn't my priority)Cons:- The maps are not detailed enough。 - The walking tours are also not detailed enough and seem a bit disjointed。 - Lack of recommendations apart from very popular destinations。 Overall, this isn't enough as the only guide for any extensive travel of 3+ days。 I found the Hong Kong Tourism Board site and app to be of much better use。 Save yourself some money and get the apps。 。。。more

This was not a very helpful guide。 It was well written but not very practical when on the ground。

Really well-written informative guide by writers who seem to know and love Hong Kong, a must for any trip! Its been essential for my in starting my new life here。The only thing I would say is that it makes HK seem more overwhelming than it is because the Island is broken down into areas, whereas I would probably just group all of that under one chapter of the island。 But despite that, a must-read!
